Some say all weather is walking weather and for those keen enough, that means heading out for a not-so-dry walk this weekend.

Temperatures have remained warmer towards the end of August but as the first few days of September drawn closer, so too does the good old drizzle. Good news though, it's nothing a couple of rain coats and some quality walking boots can't shield you from if you decide to head out this weekend.

This week, we have a longer, but peaceful walk to enjoy in the rural Ribble Valley village of Clitheroe. The small village has enough to occupy a day with historical castles, charming streets and tons of great spots to eat and drink.

But for a more outdoorsy experience, we've found a idyllic walk that starts and ends at on one of the villages most charming little roadside inns. The Waddington Arms was formerly known as the Sun Inn, originally built a roadside coaching inn.

The inn became a sanctuary to travellers and villagers but was later transformed into a pub in the late 1900's. By 1993, the Sun Inn closed its doors forever, paving the way for a re-opening in 1994 as the Waddington Arms- or the Waddy, as the locals know it.

The scenic walk itself while beautiful, is known to be a slightly more of a challenging route to tackle with a nine mile circular path that heads up onto the fells above the idyllic village of Waddington for breathtaking views of Pendle Hill and the Ribble Valley. The route follows the ancient tracks of the Lancashire Witches’ Walk, towards Bradford Fell before dropping back to the village.
